Soil Vapor Extraction Systems
Soil Vapor Extraction, known as SVE, is the most frequently selected method used for the treatment of soil contaminated with solvents and other volatile organic compounds without the need for the excavation of the contaminated soil.
SVE extracts contaminants from the soil in vapor form. SVE systems are designed to remove contaminants that have a tendency to volatilize or evaporate easily and which are located in the soil beneath the ground surface and in the subsurface above the water table(unsaturated zone).
By applying a vacuum through a system of underground wells, contaminates are pulled to the surface as vapor or gas. Air injection wells are installed to increase the airflow and improve the removal rate of the soil contaminates. |
